Fidelity® Rewards Visa Signature® Card

We may change APRs, fees, and other Account terms in the future based on your experience with Elan Financial Services and its affiliates as provided under the Cardmember Agreement and applicable law.

1. You will earn 2 Points per dollar in eligible net purchases (net purchases are purchases minus credits and returns) that you charge. Account must be open and in good standing to earn and redeem rewards and benefits. Upon approval, refer to your Program Rules for additional information. You may not redeem Reward Points, and you will immediately lose all of your Reward Points, if your Account is closed to future transactions (including, but not limited to, due to Program misuse, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or death). Reward Points will not expire as long as your Account remains open. Certain transactions are not eligible for Reward Points, including Advances (as defined in the Agreement, including wire transfers, travelers checks, money orders, foreign cash transactions, betting transactions, lottery tickets and ATM disbursements), Annual Fee, convenience checks, balance transfers, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, overdraft advances, interest charges, fees, credit insurance charges, transactions to fund certain prepaid card products, U.S. Mint purchases, or transactions to purchase cash convertible items. The 2% cash back rewards value applies only to Points redeemed for a deposit into an eligible Fidelity account. The redemption value is different if you choose to redeem your Points for other rewards such as travel options, merchandise, gift cards, and/or statement credit. Other restrictions apply. Full details appear in the Program Rules new card customers receive with their card. Establishment or ownership of a Fidelity account or other relationship with Fidelity Investments is not required to obtain a card or to be eligible to use Points to obtain any rewards offered under the program other than Fidelity Rewards.

2.

Because the interest and other fees charged on any outstanding balance are greater than the cash value of the rewards points, you may pay more in fees and interest than the value of the points you earn if you do not pay your bill in full each month.

3.

To receive a deposit, you must link your eligible Fidelity® account to your card. This can be accomplished in any of following ways. 1. You may contact Elan Financial Services Customer Service at the toll-free phone number located on the back of your credit card and provide them with your eligible Fidelity® account (s) number. 2. Simply select the “Manage Reward Points” hyperlink from the credit card snapshot page on Fidelity.com and follow the easy steps. You may also watch a brief video that describes the linking process on the credit card snapshot page also found on Fidelity.com. Please note that automatic redemptions will occur on a monthly basis as long as you have reached the point redemption threshold of 2,500 Points.

4.

Eligible accounts include most nonretirement registrations as well as Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Rollover IRA, SEP IRA, Fidelity Charitable® Giving Account®, Fidelity HSA®, and Fidelity®-managed 529 College Savings Plan accounts. The ability to contribute to an IRA or 529 college savings plan account is subject to IRS rules and specific program policies, including those on eligibility and annual and maximum contribution limits. Full details appear in the Program Guidelines new card customers receive with their card. Contributions to Fidelity Charitable® are generally eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction. Please consult with your tax advisor. The list of eligible registration types may change without notice at Fidelity’s sole discretion. For more information about whether a particular registration is eligible, please call 1-800-FIDELITY (800-343-3548).

5. Certain restrictions apply to each benefit. Details accompany new account materials.

6.

Elan Financial Services provides zero fraud liability for unauthorized transactions. Cardmember must notify Elan Financial Services promptly of any unauthorized use. Certain conditions and limitations may apply.

7.

Cardmembers are responsible for the cost of any goods or services purchased by the Visa Signature Concierge on cardmembers’ behalf.

8. Fidelity Rewards+ generally requires $250,000 invested through Fidelity® Wealth Services, Fidelity® Strategic Disciplines, or a combination of both registered as an individual account, a joint account, or certain types of revocable trusts. Assets in other registration types, such as irrevocable trusts, partnerships, or LLCs, will not be included when determining program eligibility. Fidelity Rewards is not offered as a component of any advisory service or program through Fidelity, including, without limitation, Fidelity® Wealth Services and Fidelity® Strategic Disciplines. While there are no program enrollment fees, eligible managed accounts are charged an advisory fee.

At any bank, if you have a low credit score, you’re only likely to get a credit limit increase if you’re getting close to your existing credit limit. So if you got that email, you probably had a few thousand dollars of Capital One credit card debt at an interest rate of at least 20 percent. That implies you were probably paying Capital One around $40 in interest per month or more. You might want or need to borrow more money on top of what you’ve already borrowed, but I always thought it was a little bit sick for us to be telling people to “enjoy” their higher credit line. It felt more than a little like shouting, “Enjoy getting into more debt, suckers!” before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and speeding off in a Tesla.

In my coworkers’ defense, nearly everyone agreed with me that repeating “more...more...more” in that email was redundant, if not manipulative, and we eventually changed the text. But the pitch still represented an irreconcilable gap: While the recipients of the email might, at best, regard it as one additional debt instrument to deploy for the next financial emergency lying in wait, Capital One employees must have imagined that borrowers were positively excited to take on more debt as soon as possible.

Sadly, this latter view was not completely unreasonable. As Scott Schuh and Scott Fulford have shown in a paper for the Federal Reserve of Boston, people who get credit limit increases tend to keep their “utilization” constant. In other words: If a person is carrying a $1,500 balance when they have a $3,000 credit limit, you’d expect them to start carrying a $4,000 balance if the limit is raised to $8,000. If most people use the full credit-limit increases they are offered, the thinking goes, that must mean that most people want to borrow more money. If you lend them more money, you are “meeting customers’ needs.”

Because the borrower’s pain was not at the forefront for analysts, lingo like “pBad” (the percentage of people who can’t repay their loans), “second-order risk” (when customers who would have been able to repay a small loan default because they borrowed more than they could handle), “flow rates” (the percentage of people who will miss the next payment), “HBRs” (high-balance revolvers, or people who have a lot of debt) is not analogous to a military planner referring to “collateral damage” to talk about dead civilians. It is far more abstract.

How to Dispute a Charge: Everything You Should Know

Consumers have the right to dispute a credit card charge, whether it was posted in error, fraudulent in nature or if the merchant didn't provide satisfactory goods or services. It is best practice to challenge fraudulent charges immediately, but only file other types of disputes after an effort is made to resolve the issue with the merchant. You typically need to file a dispute within 60 days of the transaction; however, the specific time frame will highly depend on the type of dispute you're submitting. Regardless of what type of dispute you need to file, we will walk you through everything you need to know about how to dispute a credit card charge.

Disputing a credit card charge

Consumers can dispute fraudulent charges on their bill by calling their issuer. This is typically a quick process where the issuer will cancel the credit card in question and reissue a new one.

You also have the right to dispute a credit card charge for a purchase you willingly made. This can be done for a number of reasons, including services not rendered or dissatisfaction with services rendered. For example, if you purchase something online that shows up broken, your credit card issuer can assist with getting your money back.

However, there is a more formal process you must follow with non-fraud-related credit card disputes. In this case, you typically have 60 days from the time you receive your statement to act.

Fraudulent chargesUnlimitedCall your issuer directly
Billing error60 daysRequires specific protocol. See below.
Bad service or service not rendered60 daysRequires specific protocol. See below.

Fraudulent or unauthorized credit card charges

You can dispute a fraudulent credit card charge by contacting your credit card issuer directly and informing them of the problem. By law, you cannot be held liable for more than $50 in fraudulent charges. However, a charge of even this amount is unlikely. Today, most of the major banks offer a "no liability" feature on most of their credit cards. They waive the $50 charge, as long as you report the fraud within two billing cycles.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) recommends you also file a police report. This is not required, but it can help the police and other government bodies to track these crimes. A single fraudulent purchase on your account may be part of a larger problem that could be potentially uncovered.

You should investigate whether a purchase was truly fraudulent or not. Make sure it wasn't done by a family member or close friend without your authorization, or due to a miscommunication. Generally, you should dispute a credit card charge only if you would be willing to also file a police report. If the unauthorized charge came about because of a miscommunication, you should work it out with the party involved before calling your bank and claiming it was fraud.

Billing errors

The Federal Trade Commission states that you have the right to dispute charges based on the following:

  • Charges that list the wrong date or amount
  • Charges for goods and services you didn't accept or that weren't delivered as agreed
  • Math errors
  • Failure to post payments and other credits, like returns
  • Failure to send bills to your current address — assuming the creditor has your change of address, in writing, at least 20 days before the billing period ends
  • Charges for which you ask for an explanation or written proof of purchase, along with a claimed error or request for clarification

You can dispute credit card charges by writing a letter to your creditor. You can use a sample letter at the bottom of this guide. During the course of the investigation, you are not obligated to pay the charge in question, but you will have to pay the rest of your bill. You must send the letter to your creditor within 60 days, and the law requires them to respond to you — in writing — within 30 days. The card issuer is also required to resolve the dispute within two billing cycles. If you disagree with the final decision, you have 10 days to indicate this. However, at this point, the creditor is allowed to begin a collections procedure. If they also choose to report the incident to the credit bureaus, they must include a note that you don't agree you owe the money.

How to dispute a credit card charge for bad service or services not rendered

The Fair Credit Billing Act — a federal law passed in 1975 — gives you the right to dispute charges in case you are dissatisfied with the transaction through a process called Claims and Defenses. You must file a report on a disputed purchase within 60 days of the statement date on which the charge appeared. Before you officially report your issue, the law requires you to try and work out the disagreement directly with the merchant. See if they are willing to provide you with a refund or some sort of store credit.

Try to save documentation that proves you attempted to resolve the issue. This can be an email exchange, or a witness to you speaking with the merchant. If this route fails, you can turn to Claims and Defenses.

It is important that you do not pay for the disputed credit card charge. Contact your issuer immediately and inform them that you are working on resolving the issue. During the course of the investigation, your creditor may lower your credit limit proportionally to the amount being disputed. For example, if you are challenging a $500 credit card purchase and your credit limit is $2,000, the creditor may set your credit limit to $1,500 while that purchase is investigated. Additionally, complaints about the quality of goods and services can only be made if the following are satisfied:

  • The transaction must exceed $50
  • The purchase must have been made in the same state as the consumer's address, or within 100 miles of the address. This does not apply to online transactions
  • The consumer is required to make a "good faith attempt to obtain satisfactory resolution of a disagreement or problem relative to the transaction"

Assuming you meet all of the above qualifications, you should send a letter to your creditor's billing inquiries department. This address will be different from the one you use to send payments. It's best to use certified mail and ask for a return receipt so that you have proof your bank received it. The letter should include any and all supporting documentation, including a copy of any sales slips, pictures of damaged goods and any correspondences between you and the merchant. Below you can find a sample letter provided by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Decent Card!

Credit Karma Member

The APR is high but some people forget this card is made for rebuilding credit?? If you want 0 APR then go to CITI & get denied! The annual fee is low compared to others at 59-99 dollars?? plus monthly maint. fees. It's a good card for climbing back up the ladder!! When you spend & payback responsible. You will get better credit cards in the future!!!

There Are Better Options

Credit Karma Member

Credit One Bank is actually Not a great card if you are looking to rebuild your credit. 1. Low initial credit limit with no increase after 12+ months of on time payments. I happened to get this card AFTER I had obtained another card which gave me an increase of credit line after 5 on time payments. No such offer with Credit One. 2. Will not let you pay before billing period. This one is important. The reason to pay down or pay off your account before billing is because it allows you to show credit utilization AND that you keep a 0-10% balance. Doing this would allow you to build your credit quickly. Also, it would keep you from incurring interest charges. This card company seeks to charge you fees immediately and daily until they bill you. 3. They take the payment immediately from your account, but take up to 7 business days to credit your account. Again, this is a big deal because you are incurring interest charges UNTIL your payment credits to your account. They do have an option for doing an "Express Payment" for $7.95, but this option only gives you a credit of $100 immediately, but still can take up to 7 days to credit in full to your account. 4. Poor customer service options to seek resolutions. They don't have an email or chat option to contact customer service and the numbers provided are for either the automated system or if you are needing to dispute/report lost stolen credit card. There are no options for general inquiry other than writing in or trying to figure out the FAQs links. In short this company is predatory with high annual fees, high interest rates and poor customer service. Usually if you can qualify for this unsecured card you may also qualify for Capital One or Milestone. If you are unsure about being able to qualify for a card, payoff some of your debt for a boost and then immediately dispute and send proof of payments to credit agencies or if you are debt free and just brand new to building credit check with your bank about obtaining a credit card with them. ½ a star would be a more appropriate rating for Credit One Bank card company.

DONT DO IT!

Credit Karma Member

If I could give this card zero stars I would. I have had this card for over a year. My account has been blocked for SIX months now. When I called customer service a while back they said it was because I paid my bill in full. I have sent in the documents I needed in order to get my account unblocked SEVEN times. Each time they say it'll take 7-10 business days for my account to be unlocked- yet it still is locked!!!! Don't even get me started on the customer service as it is awful. The CSRs are SO rude & not helpful at all. They treat you like you are scum of the earth. I should have listened to the horror stories about Credit One... because they are terrible!!!!!

Even if this is your only option, go somewhere else. The worse company I've ever worked with. They charge you a monthly fee, an annual fee, and even a fee to pay. They pray on people with bad credit knowing they have no other options. I had paid off the card and they asked if I wanted to increase my credit limit after a year of paying on time. Didn't help my credit score by the way. The capital one card I got did. They charged $20 to increase my credit limit $20, and a $9 monthly fee. I was unaware of the fees, and after not using the card for 6 months, the credit increase goes through, and I have a $30 late payment because I didn't know they charged me a limit increase and a monthly fee. Again I haven't used the card in 6 months, and now they report a late payment to the credit bureau. I try to talk to customer service to try and pay and fix the issue. They are all located abroad, and can barely speak English. Don't waste your time, there are better ways to build your credit. This loan shark of a credit card company might ruin the home loan I've already been aroved for, because of their greedy fees.

Perfect to rebuild credit

Credit Karma Member

Had this card for about a year now has definitely helped me credit increase! This was the only card that I could get approved for and has honestly been great! My credit has increased with this card!!

Wait to get a real card. One backed by a big company or bank. I have this card. Their system is faulty and cannot process a normal checking account payment. You are forced to pay with your debt card over the phone and pay a $7.00 phone convenience fee every time. Customer Service is terrible. AVOID

I am glad I was able to get one

Thank you for given the opportunity to obtain one.

Theyre customer service barely speaks English. When I asked for a supervisor to assist me, she hung up on me. When I called back and asked asked for a superviso, they hung up on me again

Awful Customer Service

Credit Karma Member

Quite possibly the worst customer service ever. I opened a few years ago to work on rebuilding my credit and never used the card. Trying to call and cancel was met with the rudest customer service rep who placed me with someone else who tried to convince me to stay, 4 times, despite me saying I just want to cancel.

Great card to rebuild with!

Contact credit one credit card of what type of dispute you need to file, we will walk you through everything you need to know about how to dispute a credit card charge.

You must file a report on a disputed purchase within 60 days of the statement date on which prefab shipping container homes for sale in north carolina charge appeared.
